Optimization of Electrical Stimulus Device based on Simulation of Tactile Receptor


"Tactile feedback by electrical stimulus provides compact device design. However, there is a difficulty in presenting natural tactile feeling. To solve this problem, we are investigating optimization of the electrical stimulus device based on the simulation of the tactile sensation using various types of electrodes. As the simulation of tactile sensation, we solve potential distribution problem under the given electrode condition, analyze nerve activity, and evaluate whether the nerve activity is apropriately caused or not. We conducted optimization of the electrode of spatially transparent electrotactile display and found that the optimized electrode size was 60 mm^2."
